Minneapolis—Last winter, 20% Theatre Company in Minneapolis, MN, created and produced the world premiere of The Naked I: Wide Open – and sold out all eight performances a week before opening night! The buzz did not stop, and so the company remounted the show for four more sold-out performances in June. And now we’re going on a national tour, presenting the show at colleges, conferences, and in cities across the country. We will perform one night only – October 25th – in Boston and then head to western Massachusetts to perform in Springfield, MA, at a conference, Smith College in Northampton, and then up in Brattleboro, VT.

Monologues From Beyond The Binary by Massachusetts transgender playwright, Tobias K. Davis, The Naked I: Wide Open was created by the company and originally produced in February 2012 with over 50 artists involved. The Naked I: Wide Open – Abridged will feature about half of the original pieces from the show, and four of the original performers. Filled with fresh, sexy, humorous, gut-punching, and unbelievably honest and true stories by transgender/gender non-conforming individuals and allies, The Naked I: Wide Open – Abridged explores gender identity far beyond the land of “male” and “female.”
Inspired by 20% Theatre Company’s ground-breaking, sold-out 2009 production of The Naked I: 20% Theatre Company Twin Cities is committed to supporting and vigorously promoting the work of female and transgender playwrights, directors, and performing artists, and celebrating the unique contribution of these artists to social justice and human rights.
