Boston Pride Partners with Dyke Night Productions to Produce 2012 JP Block Party

BOSTON, Mass. – Boston Pride is pleased to announce that it is partnering with LGBT event producer Dyke Night Productions for the annual Jamaica Plain Block Party that the organization hosts as part of Pride Week. This year’s Block Party will be held on Sunday, June 10th from 12 to 7 pm on Perkins Street in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston.

“We are thrilled to be working with Kristen Porter, Perri Mertens and everyone at Dyke Night Productions, who have been formidable leaders in our community,” said Linda DeMarco, president of Boston Pride.  “The JP Block Party is one of the largest events that we host and organize for Pride Week, and we believe that Dyke Night will be a strong addition to the Boston Pride team.”

The Jamaica Plain Block Party is one of two block party celebrations that Boston Pride hosts during Pride Week.  Additionally, the organization sponsors the Pride Parade and Festival, which attracts thousands of revelers from throughout the region.  Boston Pride Week will take place this year between June 1st through 10th.

“This new partnership with Boston Pride is the culmination of many years of working together to bring high quality events to the women’s community,” said Perri Mertens, acting director of Dyke Night Productions.  “The JP Block party this year will feature five female DJs, along with family-friendly activities, and a brand new Dogs & Drag Fashion Show that we are very excited about.  We also are putting in place an alternative rain plan- so the show will go on!”
