Whitney Houston Dead At 48: Death Details

UPDATE–

Recent reports from the Huffington Post   about the County Coroner’s office “confirmed that some prescription medications were found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died, but not in large quantities.”

The report stated that according to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter’s statement to Associated Press “medications were found on the scene, but there weren’t a lot of bottles as previous reports had claimed. Winter declined to give any specifics because of the ongoing investigation.”

Dead at 48

The U.S. lost on Feb. 11, 2012, one of the most beautiful voices of a true diva, icon and legend–Whitney Houston. She was 48 and the cause of death, according to officials, is still under investigation. Her publicist, Kristen Foster, first broke the news, according to other news sources.

The singer, who scored 7 number one hits, was known to have a public struggle with drugs. According to police at the scene, she was found dead at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, at 3:55 p.m. PT today, according to E! News.

More and more celebrities, as the news continues to break, share their shock, prayers and condolences for Whitney Houston and her family via Twitter and other social networks.

The singer of known hits “I Will Always Love You, How Will I Know, Greatest Love of All, One Moment In Time, Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” and so many more, has gone unexpectedly and cyberspace is over pouring with her loss.

As of almost 10 p.m. EST, there have been speculations, per CNN, that Jennifer Hudson will be performing some sort of tribute to Houston at the Grammys to take place Sunday, Feb. 12th. It is reported that the show will substantially change due to the sudden passing of the New Jersey native. According to E! News, “Houston’s survivors include Bobbi Kristina Brown (HLN T will have a special on Whitney’s daughter) , her 18-year-old daughter with Bobby Brown,” whom she divorced in 2007 after a tumultuous marriage.

  1. I really liked this story and how it was handled. I was mourning a family member’s loss and had not had the time to read this coverage. I like that your site cared enough to mention her daughter as one of her survivors and that it shows other people’s reactions. It was also nice to hear Whitney’s voice when she was the best singer of our time!
