Dance for a Cause: Support People with HIV/AIDS

EASTHAMPTON, Mass.—A Latin dance bash on Friday, August 29th will benefit the AIDS Foundation of Western MA (AFWM), ending the first Dance for a Cause annual summer series at Eastworks suite 160. All are welcome! No partner or previous experience necessary. From 7-11 p.m., come dance to the fabulous Latin beats of DJ Chico from the Iron Horse and Meli & Chico’s Salsa. For $15 entry, enjoy an air conditioned dance floor, a cash bar, door prizes, raffles, and a silent auction (including great prizes like a trip to Club Getaway)! Wear red to show solidarity with people living each day with HIV/AIDS.

The AIDS Foundation of Western MA educates our community to help stop the transmission of HIV/AIDS and end the stigma against people who have it. AFWM holds out a safety net to people with HIV/AIDS by providing a support group, referral services, and financial assistance for basic needs such as medication or utilities for low income people with HIV/AIDS. Imagine how much harder the Recession is for people who are infected! Isn’t it wonderful that you can help just by going out dancing for a night? [pullquote]The AIDS Foundation of Western MA educates our community to help stop the transmission of HIV/AIDS and end the stigma against people who have it.[/pullquote]

Invite your friends and help us raise money for our local AIDS Foundation, while having a fantastically fun night! Join and share the event on Facebook at Dance for a Cause, Western MA.

If you can’t come, please support without attending by donating online at writtenwings.com/danceforacause. You can donate online to both AFWM and Prison Birth Project, our beneficiary for the first four Fridays in August.

This new summer series was created by dance partners and event directors Michael Rodriguez and Erica Silber. Silber serves on the Development Committee of AFWM and is the grant writer for our earlier beneficiary, Prison Birth Project. Her mission-based business, Written Wings, offers writing and consulting to nonprofits and businesses working toward a better world, and she will be responsible for choosing all nonprofit beneficiaries of Dance for a Cause. Rodriguez has directed local, regional, and national/international events such as the San Francisco marathon; he’s also been a dance coach for 37 years, teaching 20 different styles of dance.

Dance for a Cause is also brought to you by: Meli & Chico’s Salsa, Dance Northampton, Amherst Salsa, Anastasia’s Social Dance School, Amherst Salsa, Shall We Dance, Michael Rodriguez Dance, Power WSPR 1270 am, La Nueva Popular 1490 am, Written Wings, Nash Gallery, and Eastworks.

Come make a difference just by dancing, and watch for our next Dance for a Cause events!
