tnt_smTo Cater to Members, Local Businesses, And General Public

WEYMOUTH, Mass.—The Weymouth Club, already the premier health and fitness facility on the South Shore, has added another feature designed not just for its members but also for local businesses and the general public.

On May 1st, the Club officially opened the TNT Restaurant and Café under the ownership of veteran Chefs turned restaurateurs Tamera Mixon and Tashia Surrey-Thomas.

Both Mixon and Surrey-Thomas have over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry and both are American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certified Chefs.

Mixon’s experience includes working as the Executive Chef at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Chef at the Famous Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY & owner operator of “In The Mix” Personal Chef and Catering Company in Atlanta. [pullquote]The Weymouth Cub’s TNT’s restaurant is located on the Weymouth Club’s second floor and offers nightly dinner specials, themed events and has a full bar for all to enjoy. Surrey-Thomas is a Certified Pastry Chef and is also a dedicated culinary instructor, sharing her expertise and passion on both the secondary and post-secondary levels. She has taught international cuisine, baking and Serve Safe Courses. Over the past eight years as a Pastry Chef and owner of her own customized design cakes and cupcake business, Posh Atlanta Cakes has been afforded her the opportunity to work with honored chefs such as Wolfgang Puck in some of Atlanta’s most prestigious venues.  In addition, she has been sought out by many of Atlanta’s high profile clients.

TNT Restaurant and Cafe was developed on Mixon’s and Surrey-Thomas’s ability to create layers of flavors in their cuisine, offering explosive flavor profiles in every bite.

“We’ve designed a menu that offers the members and guest of the Weymouth club healthier and higher quality menu options to choose from,” said Mixon.

TNT also offers catering services and customized cake and cupcakes designed by Surrey-Thomas for all occasions.

“We are and one-stop shop for all your dining and catering needs,” the two said

In the meantime, the Café is open year round and is located on the first floor of the Club, adjacent to the outside pool and offers breakfast, lunch and is now serving beer and wine.

“We are very excited about this new opportunity,” said Surrey-Thomas.

The two moved from Atlanta, Georgia to take on this venture.

Kristian Jenkins, named Weymouth Club’s Director of Operations in February 2012, had been the Lifestyle Director at Atlanta’s Midtown Athletic Club.  It was there that he worked with Mixon, who was the Club’s Food and Beverage Director.

Fast forward to a little more than a year ago when the Weymouth Club began talking of adding a restaurant and improving on the café service which they had. With the backing of Club co-owners Sally and Steve Goldman, the decision was made to go ahead with the café/restaurant proposal. Jenkins was given the go-ahead to help find someone to oversee the operation.

“There was no question in my mind that Mixon should be that person,” said Jenkins.  “She had the experience at running a restaurant at a health club, and she was very successful at it.

“This is a very exciting addition to the Club,” concluded Jenkins.  “We are excited to be able to provide not just menu service but catering service to our members and the general public.”

True believers of “Everything Happens for a Reason”, Mixon and Surrey-Thomas who, after getting married in Provincetown, MA in 2012, fell in love with Massachusetts and dreamed of opening a restaurant there one day. When the opportunity at the Weymouth came, it was destiny for the two and it was no question that it was the right decision for the two.

“This is our dream, our passion, our destiny and we look forward in partnering with the Weymouth Club,” said Mixon and Surry-Thomas.
