Boston AlteRnaTive Gallery Painting Pays Tribute to Gay Holocaust Prisoners

Gay Holocaust Prisoners

BOSTON—Provincetown visual and “drag fusion” artist Shane Adams (aka Shania LeClaire Riviere) has been selected to have his painting “Jerk” included in a juried show at the AlteRnaTive Art Space Gallery in Boston for their Solidarity Through Pride Exhibit which opens June 2nd and runs through June 17th. This painting reflects the artist’s tribute to homosexual holocaust prisoners who are often forgotten in the historical context of WWII Germany. The piece is a 12” by 12” oil on canvas.

From the artist: “This piece is very special to me and therefore the honor of the selection for this show is all the more meaningful. As a gay man and genderbending artist, I wanted to create an evocative piece that sheds a light on a dark blotch in our world’s history even as we face continued discrimination today. I hope that “Jerk” evokes a sense of pride and solidarity for the LGBTQ community.”

The AlteRnaTive Art Space Gallery is a Boston area fine art gallery committed to promoting both local and international art, providing space for emerging, mid-level, and established artists. The gallery has shown a range of styles and media from abstract sculptural installation to contemporary representational portraiture. The AlteRnaTive Art Space is especially passionate in increasing the visibility of young emerging artists. The gallery is located at 460C Harrison Ave., Suite 21C in Boston, Massachusetts.

The opening reception for Solidarity Through Pride will be held on June 2, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00p.m. Please visit the ArlteRnaTive Art Space website at www.alternativeartspace.net/.

  1. Dear TRT Editor,

Correction request: (admins feel free to delete this comment after.)
For the Topic tag you have “slidarity…” please correct to ‘Solidarity, etc.” thanks.
It would be great if a writer or photographer can make it to the opening on June 2.
    All the best,
    Ian,
    Curator, Alternative Art Space
