LOS ANGELES, Cal. In a world first, the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN), considered one of the most revered anti-bullying organizations in the USA, has partnered with independent film company Genius Pictures and Melke Pty Ltd to co-produce a feature length film version of the multiple award winning viral short “Love Is All You Need?

Imagine a world where Gay was Straight and Straight was Gay. Challenging our current conception of the terms ‘Gay’ and ‘Straight’, this controversial film, written and directed by K Rocco Shields of Genius Pictures, switches not only the meaning of the terms but with it the social and cultural prejudicial responses, in particular the film focuses on the hate and the bullying.

“I can’t stress how important it is that kids, teachers and administrators have a chance to see a resource like “Love Is All You Need?” and have a chance to experience it, think about it and talk about it. That’s how change is going to happen.” —Melora Sundt, Vice Dean Academic Programs University of Southern California Rossier School of Edu. [pullquote]“I can’t stress how important it is that kids, teachers and administrators have a chance to see a resource like “Love Is All You Need?” and have a chance to experience it, think about it and talk about it. “We accomplish our goals by working in hallways across the country— from Congress and the Department of Education to schools and district offices in your community—to improve school climate and champion LGBT issues in K-12 education. “  —Eliza Byard, PhD GLSEN Executive Director[pullquote]The heart breaking short has already generated well over 30 million views globally and has been translated into 15 different languages by fans all around the world since it leaked onto the internet.[/pullquote]

The fact that this is the first time GLSEN has partnered with a production company is a testament to this film’s impact and the organization’s commitment to change:

“When we first saw the short film, Love Is All You Need? GLSEN was drawn to this important project.  It has always been our mission to ensure that every student in every school is valued and treated with respect, regardless of their sexual orientation gender identity or gender expression.”—Braden Lay-Michaels, GLSEN Chief Development Officer.

The Charitable 501c3 organization From The Heart Production will partner GLSEN, Genius and Melke in the Indie Gogo crowd funding campaign launching Tuesday May 13.
