BOSTON, Mass.—Yesterday, hundreds of people gathered at a MassEquality and community event at the front steps of the Massachusetts State House to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court 5-4 decision that made marriage equality nationally a reality.

Politicians, organization leaders, and dozens of attendees from the LGBTQ community and allies carried rainbow flags, brought their children, displayed banners with distinct messages that had to do with happiness, without forgetting that there is still more work to be done for other segments of the LGBTQ community itself.

The photos, captured by the The Rainbow Times’ lens of Steve Jewett, tell the story of this event and how it unfolded in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts.
